Brick is a natural material that is used and has always been developed for centuries based on the four main elements such as fire, water, earth and air. For our ThermoPlan® MZ-Ziegel bricks, we have expanded the base by adding another element to the formula: rockwool® stone wool.
ThermoPlan® MZ bricks contain in their inner cracks an integrated thermal insulation composed of Rockwool® rockwool. It is one of the most widely used materials in thermal and acoustic insulation.
This is mainly attributable to its optimal qualities: rock wool is nonflammable, water-resistant but breathable, resistant to aging, and insulates not only from heat and cold but also from noise.
With Klosterbeuren’s ThermoPlan® MZ bricks and reliable V.Plus and VD system blocks you build brick walls with integrated and protected insulation.
No additional thermal insulation connected systems are needed on the exterior walls.

Moisture: the use of Rockwool® rockwool allows the wall to be resistant to moisture. The moisture that manages to penetrate is, through the rock wool, conveyed to the brick and diffuses through the capillary effect of the brick material itself to the outside. On the construction site, masonry should be carefully covered overnight to prevent a large amount of water or snow from penetrating into it.
Installation of windows and doors: for window reveals, we can offer corner products and accessory bricks that ensure secure attachment of items such as windows and doors.
Drilling and fixing dowels: the 1.5-cm-thick outer jumper as thick as the inner jumper allows excellent results in inserting the fixing dowels into the bricks. In general, holes are always drilled in the brick wall with the drill without a stop.
Massive inner and outer septa provide for high values of dowel extraction in the brick.
OPTIMAL THERMAL INSULATION
ThermoPlan® MZ bricks are highly heat-insulating and are the new criterion for energy-efficient building, whether it is a single-family house, a semi-detached house, a townhouse, or an apartment building. In this way, even purely monolithic passive houses can be built without adding external insulation.
WARM AND DRY FOR HOUSING HEALTH
It is like with a winter coat: if it were wet, we would freeze. If it is dry, it shelters us from the cold. Similarly, this also applies to building materials. The presence of more moisture indicates poor thermal insulation.
ThermoPlan® MZ bricks are dry. Inside the block, the insulation composed of rock wool is water-repellent. Any water that may seep in during the construction phase is quickly expelled because of the special capillary structure of which the bricks are composed.
The bricks during production are dried and then fired at a temperature of 1,000°C. They are dried quickly, in the shortest possible time, and contain the least amount of moisture of any comparable material.
INTEGRATED THERMAL INSULATION, PROTECTED IN THE BRICK
ThermoPlan® MZ bricks have insulation inside the bricks themselves. Therefore they are found to be efficient against weathering, mechanical damage, and protected against pests.
FIRE PROTECTION AND SOUND INSULATION
ThermoPlan® MZ bricks set new standards in the field of sound insulation. The thickness of the inner brick baffles and the central structure composed of Rockwool insulation rockwool absorb penetrating acoustic waves. In addition, both bricks and rock wool are not flammable, the bricks already passed through fire during production.
TIME-SAVING PROCESSING WITH PLANZIEGEL RECTIFIED BRICK CONSTRUCTION SYSTEM

Placing lightweight bricks is quick; the blocks are stacked on pallets so that the brick layer no longer has to turn the bricks. All this saves time and moves. Dünnbettmörtel special mortar is automatically shipped with the bricks and is included in the price. Also not to be forgotten is the time savings from not having to make the addition of external insulation.
SIZE ACCURACY OF PLANZIEGEL RECTIFIED BRICKS FOR EXACT MASONRY WALLS
Through construction with Planziegel rectified bricks, dimensional accuracy is achieved. Klosterbeuren’s ThermoPlan® MZ bricks possess a high standard of accuracy and production quality. Each brick is ground at the top as well as at the bottom.
HIGH STATIC STRENGTH OF MASONRY WALLS WITH MZ-PLANZIEGEL
Bricks rectified with the help of only 1 mm of mortar joint lead to the result of compact and homogeneous walls with good compressive stress. The block’s massive inner baffles make for optimum load-bearing capacity and stability.
MONOLITHIC MASONRY WALL WITH NO SHRINKAGE MEASURE
ThermoPlan® MZ bricks basically provide a masonry wall with no shrinkage measure. In fact, bricks are the only material, according to DIN 1053 masonry standards, that have no shrinkage measure.
